We are pleased to announce that the recently approved 2016-2017 California State budget includes a restoration in categorical funding for part-time faculty. This State-provided categorical funding was reduced by 62 percent in Fall 2010 and resulted in a 4.16 percent decrease across all enhanced pay factors used to create our hourly schedules. As of Fall 2016, this decrease is no longer in effect; the funding restoration will result in a significant increase in hourly pay above the increases announced in the May 2016 Tentative Agreement (TA).

Accordingly, beginning Fall 2016, all SRJC faculty who teach hourly assignments will see an increase in their hourly pay. The pay increase across all hourly salary schedules effective Fall 2016 is, on average, 7.3 percent higher than hourly rates in the 2015-2016 salary schedules. In contrast, prior to the funding restoration, the average increase for hourly pay as announced in the May 2016 TA was approximately 2.09 percent. As always, specific increases vary by step and schedule.

The 2016-2017 SRJC salary schedules are now posted on the AFA website (see Fall 2016 Salary Schedules).

This ongoing restoration of part-time categorical funding is made possible in part by the tireless advocacy of Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC), California Community College Independents (CCCI), AFA, and the individual faculty members who called and wrote to their State legislators.
